Downtown Field Trip

Lauren and Gloria have been wanting to go to a larger library than our own for a few days so we headed to downtown Minneapolis to visit the public library there. We spent some time in the children’s area gathering some non-fiction materials for their different interests and then hung around in or near the stacks for a while. Gloria has a certain fascination with the stacks and the volume of information they hold (no pun intended).

While we were sitting in the library, I remember I had made note of the fact that Foshay Tower has a museum and observation deck available for a small admission. Armed with my electronic notes and phone, we headed over there.  In spite of a small navigation problem caused by one of the many construction projects (and my lack of a good sense of direction), we made it to our destination and enjoyed learning a little about the building and looking at the 360 degree view available at the top.

After leaving Foshay, we grabbed a quick snack and headed for the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. We stopped there first this morning but arrived 15 minutes before it opened. We spent some time looking at and petting the cats, dogs and other little animals they shelter there. We had to reopen the conversation about my desire to not have a dog again. Some day everyone will believe me, perhaps. It was a great day for a completely unplanned field trip.
