State JO Gymnastics Meet

state1

Gloria, Natalie and I went to the Minneapolis Convention Center to watch the Junior Olympic Gymnastics State Meet today. We got there at about 9:30 am and stayed until almost 8:00 pm. We watched the Level 9 and Level 10 (2 highest levels) compete in all events. Katie’s friend Bre Murray was there competing and we were also cheering for Legacy gymnasts. Natalie was an especially enthusiastic spectator and was a little reluctant to leave the event for lunch or dinner! I took a bunch of photos for the Legacy Facebook page.

In between the different levels, we tried to do a brief photography field trip for Gloria but it was FREEZING outside so it was a short event!

For dinner, we walked through the skyways over to Foshay Tower to eat dinner at Keys Café. Recently, Gloria had been wishing that she could eat at a “real” restaurant so that was a nice treat.

The most dramatic moment of the meet was when a girl missed planting her hands on the beam so that she landed on her head and face instead. She was taken away in a stretcher to an ambulance (no pictures of course!) Other than that, it was a great experience, although very long!
