Notes from Tent Camping

camping1

Tent camping as a family was basically pretty good. There was always the issue of whether it would rain, and each day people were trying to renegotiate which tent they would sleep in. The sounds of angry crows or other birds/animals in the early morning or late night were a little hard to get used to. And of course, trying to get or stay clean was an effort. We did have electricity and running water at the site but it was not in perfect condition so it was a semi-nusiance.

We would definitely have preferred a site that was NOT packed mud. There was very little grass to put our tents on and this was one of the bigger disappointments with the site. Having gone camping before at Sonshine and with church, we did have all the supplies we needed to be as comfortable as possible but by the time we got home, I decided that camper cabins would be a little better for next year – just for the assurance that our beds and clothes would stay dry in case of rain. Everything else about camping – eating outside, cooking on the fire, chilling out was GREAT.

The advertised amenities at the campground were basically good, although the internet was pretty spotty and the pool closed quite early. This was only an issue for us because were busy doing other things during the day and only wanted internet or pool later in the day. The staff was *mostly* friendly.
