Marbled Paper and The Cool Science Book

This month, we added a new activity to our afternoon "group time" - The Greatest Science Stories Never Told: 100 tales of invention and discovery to astonish, bewilder, and stupefy

I originally saw this book in the Science Museum gift shop. I snapped a photo and then looked it up from the library when we got home.  Each day, we read one of these science stories and then look at or do related content. So far we've looked at weather, how cars are made, electricity, batteries, earthquakes, arabic numbers, flight, lens and some other interesting things.

As an example, today, we read about how paper making started with cotton rag and moved to wood. As a fun add on, we made marbled paper using household ingredients: shaving cream, food coloring and a cookie pan.

The results were phenomenal!
Next, we can look for a cool way to use these papers AND continue to explore all sorts of sciency ideas!
