The big day has arrived! We went to the garden center at the hardware store, chose plants and started getting them in the ground!
There were quite a few choices in vegetables so to begin (and to keep my sanity) we started with peppers and tomatoes today. Katie was working so we schlepped our big cart of plants and 4 little sisters through her checkout line. The younger girls love that she works there.
At home, Jim staked out the plots for the guidelines. After we went shopping and we got a lot of help planting. A crew of 2 adults and 4 kids can dig a lot of hole and put tuck a lot of plants into bed. We got:
48 marigolds
8 tomato plants
3 cherry/grape/plum tomato plants
2 asian pepper plants
8 bell pepper plants (red, orange, yellow and purple)
4 broccoli plants
