A while ago, I started read a blog and newsletter from Doing Good Together. It contains information and encouragement to volunteer together as families.
Since beginning homeschooling last year, it has been on my heart to actively look for service opportunities so I was thankful to see so much good info gathered in one place. I firmly believe that we live with so much abundance, it is our duty (and privilege) to give some of our time and resources to help others.
Today, there was a service event coordinated by Wooddale Church called Just Show Up and Serve. All we had to do was be at Wooddale at 9 am and then we were sent out to a site of our choice for the morning.
We went to Bundles of Love, where we got to help sort, assemble and sew items for babies in need. It was so fun to help there and so encouraging to see the enormous amount of work that other volunteers had already contributed. I find that incredibly encouraging.
We all agreed that we would go there again and look into how we could contribute at home, too.
