When we withdrew the kids from school, Gloria was still invited to be part of the annual Water Walk for Haiti fundraising event at MME. She built some small display boxes and signs to sell dum-dum suckers and freezie pops. It was pretty cold and windy so it was not exactly freezie pop weather but we sold a couple dozen of them along with all 8 bags of suckers. The total she raised for the event was a little over $37. It was great practice planning a real event, making change, running a little “store” (Jamie helped too by making change and doing tally marks on our sales sheet) and more. Both Jamie and Gloria also got a chance to shop at the other “booths” and decide how they wanted to spend some of the money they had earned doing chores. It was neat to see how so many kids (and teachers) were excited to see Gloria because she was quite well-liked at school. In spite of that, Gloria was still glad she was learning at home instead of at MME.
