It was kind of a coincidence that the second MN Orchestra tickets I got this year were for Mother’s Day (and our anniversary) but my favorite thing to do on Mother’s Day is to be together anyway! We went out to lunch at Wendy’s after church and then headed to downtown Minneapolis for Chris McKhool’s Fiddle Fire. As I had hoped, the weather was OK to be out on the plaza before the concert. The girls had fun climbing around the fountain area because it had not been filled with water yet.
Jamie got a chance to try the cello before the concert, as well as a tiny violin. She seemed really drawn to the cello.
For the concert, we were on the main floor, which was great because it was a group of 4 musicians – violin, guitar, bass and percussion.
The concert was very kid friendly with lots of clapping and a little dancing too. Jamie loved that Chris told the kids to try and find a ukulele if they wanted to start learning an instrument because that’s just what she’s been doing lately!
The rest of the day was great – the girls got me presents – a beautiful orchid from Juliana and LOTS of candy and a potted mum from Katie – and Jim made dinner.
