Lauren had her first-ever orchestra audition outside of school today. She tried out for Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies. With the help of her new violin teacher (a friend of mine from prayer group), she prepared scales and a solo piece and also had to do some sight reading. We listened at the door (!!) and thought she did great. Afterwards, we went out to dinner at Q.Cumbers to celebrate her work and bravery to go through the audition process. For this year and next, private lessons and GTCYS will be the main part of Lauren’s homeschool music activities but she also enjoys learning and writing music on the piano.
