It’s rather amazing to me how some of the things I have fondly remembered and often wished to be able to do again have been coming back to me. Going to Centennial Lakes for the model yacht club show was one. We just “happened to” see the flyer for it two nights before when we went to Q.Cumbers for dinner after Lauren’s orchestra audition. None of the younger kids remember being here – except for going to Chuck E. Cheese.
It was a great day to be outside and look at all the different types of model boats.
We sat on the edge of the “lake” (more like a canal, totally man made) and watched the different boats launch and be driven around by remote control. There were also birds and fish active in the water.
For the girls, an equally big attraction was a duck family. I thought the Dad duck sitting on the side guarding the babies while they ate was very entertaining. The momma was watching carefully too!
We also walked up over the bridge, around the lake and back to the fountains. I noticed everything was so neat at civilized. Jim thought it was very English. Ours were the only kids in their swimming suits in the fountains. Not sure if that’s because we purposely prepared or no one else thinks that’s what the fountain is for. Honestly, we are very often the only ones doing something!
It was a tiny bit chilly and windy but we wound up the day watching the water skiing model boat section. It was one of my favorites!
I know we will have a great many more fun family days ahead.
