Minneapolis Institute of Art

We visited MIA today for the purpose of viewing the Asian art collection. Lauren has been working on an ancient China project and Jamie read a book called Miss Happiness and Miss Flower by Rumer Godden that featured a pair of Japanese dolls. We enjoyed looking at all the different types of pottery, sculpture and textiles on display. We also watched a short film about Chinese subsistence farmers and their extravagant practice of creating costumes and jewelry that defines their clans. The scandal of the day was Natalie accidentally setting off the proximity alarm in the model Japanese tea room. Not very kid-friendly! (And the guard said “it happens all the time.”)
